The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy in its Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication

Professor or Associate Professor in Biological Chemistry (M/F)

Mission

  • engage in Biological Chemistry research within the Life Sciences Research unit in the field of Molecular Medicine and/or Systems Biology (“molecular mechanisms of inflammation”), e. g. structure/function analysis of proteins of cellular signaling pathways, protein modeling/protein chemistry applied to the identification of therapeutic targets .
  • collaborate with other research teams of the Research Unit and with the new Interdisciplinary Center LCSB “Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine”,
  • actively acquire research funds on the national and international level
  • supervise PhD and Master students
  • teaching activities in the Bachelor in Life Sciences (including first year's student of Medecine, Pharmacy) as well as in the Master of Integrated Systems Biology (courses in Basic Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and/or Biochemistry, lecturer/practical courses in Metabolomics/Proteomics; teaching languages are French, English and German

Profile

  • PhD in Biochemistry / Protein Chemistry,
  • Master or equivalent in Chemistry or Biochemistry,
  • several years of post-doctoral experience,
  • a proven ability to conduct research projects,
  • strong publication record (e. g. in the field of structure/function analysis of proteins involved in signal transduction cascades
  • experience to teach at Bachelor and Master level

The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. It is desired that the successful candidate will have a working knowledge in addition to English in French. German is an advantage.
