Our 10th anniversary

The University of Luxembourg celebrated its 10th anniversary in October 2013 with an array of extraordinary events.

The institution seized the opportunity to strengthen its standing in Luxembourg and internationally, and to thank all stakeholders - staff, students, politicians, economists, friends and citizens - for their support.

An international University serving its country!

Focusing on this message, the birthday programme generated broad public attention and further sharpened the University’s image. During one week, Uni.lu’s birthday was the “talk of the town” and “the” national event.

A representative survey of one thousand people/citizens over 15 years old carried out by TNS Ilres on behalf of the University in September revealed that this young institution has become locally accepted over the years (article in French) by the Luxembourg society as well as businesses with whom it has immediately connected. An overwhelming majority of Luxembourg residents (81%) believe that the University of Luxembourg is a good thing for the country and its future.

The very positive survey results, the impressive local media coverage and the high number of VIPs at the official celebration are further evidence for the University’s acceptance – an achievement we can all be proud of.

Furthermore, it is definitely considered a key player for the development of the country and on its way to being an internationally relevant research University.

A special 10-years-micro-website

The 10 years website — generating about 2,000 views during the events — still welcomes visitors with the aerial photo of University students and professor shaping a huge “10” in front of the main Limpertsberg Campus building.

Take a look at the birthday event programme and read how the University of Luxembourg project all started, its milestones and key facts at ten years of age.

Read also Un livre pour les dix ans de l’Université (article in French) to get further insight into the history of the University. The 10-year book published in November 2013 is on sale at 45 € on our Limpertsberg, Kirchberg and Walferdange Campuses.
