The University of Luxembourg has for the second time in a row scored the highest possible result in terms of international orientation in the U-Multirank ranking 2016. International orientation includes the following areas: Foreign language bachelor and master programmes, Student mobility, International academic staff, International doctorate degrees and International joint publications. For International joint publications, the University of Luxembourg was specifically mentioned on the list of the 25 top performers worldwide in this field.

It is the second year that the University of Luxembourg participates in U-Multirank. The scores are the highest for International orientation but gratifying also for the University in the other domains; Teaching, Research, Regional engagement and Knowledge transfer.

“We are extremely proud of our high position in the U-Multirank this year”, says Jenny Hällen-Hedberg, Head of International Relations. “The ranking confirms important facts such as the very high employability rate of our students after graduation either from Bachelor or Masters studies. Other top results include External research income, Research publications, Top cited publications, Income from private sources and Industry co-patents. These are all results deriving from major achievements by the staff and students of our young university”.

Overall, the University of Luxembourg has obtained more than 13 A scores, which represents one more A score than in 2015.

The U-Multirank, which started in 2014 with seed funding from the European Commission, is a ranking based on a methodology that reflects both the diversity of higher education institutions and the variety of dimensions of university excellence in an international context. The data included in U-Multirank is drawn from a number of sources, providing users with a comprehensive set of information:  information supplied by institutions; data from international bibliometric and patent data bases; and surveys of more than 105,000 students at participating universities – one of the largest samples in the world and offering students a unique peer perspective.
