Unité de Recherche en Mathématiques
The
Mathematics Research Unit
(Unité de Recherche en Mathématiques)
carries out research in mathematics, both on its fundamental and its applied aspects.
At the moment the following three research directions are present:
- Geometry and the Mathematical Theory of Quantization
- Noncommutative Harmonic Analysis and related fields
- Probability Theory and its Applications, Mathematical Finance, Decision Theory
The Mathematics Research Unit organizes the weekly General Mathematics Seminar
(Seminaire Mathématique)
with speakers from outside and inside the University.
Furthermore, the the research unit publishes the international mathematical research journal
Travaux Mathématiques.
The Mathematics Research Unit runs jointly with other research units of the Faculty of Sciences, Technology and Communication (FSTC) offering programs which lead to academic degrees such as the BASI (Bachelor académique en Sciences et Ingénierie) and the BASV (Bachelor académique en Sciences de la Vie). Furthermore, it participates in the Master of Computer Science of the UL and the Master of Mathematics offered by the University Paul Verlaine, Metz, France. It organises the
Master in Mathematics programme
.
