Research interests : gender and writing, utopian and dystopian writing and contemporary attitudes to progress, negotiating identities and culture in works of fiction: narrative, borders and marginality. Conferences on exile and minority identities, cultural attitudes to scientific development (19th & 20th century), utopian/dystopian fiction and popular culture.
